We picked Father George up at LAX in late June. |
Elena and Dad are standing next to Marilyn Monroe's
footprints in the front of Grauman's Chinese Theater in Hollywood. I'm not
sure if it's still called Grauman's (he's dead you know), but that's how I
remember it. |
Here's the two of them across the street from the great old
landmark (opened in 1927). |
Marilyn seems to have her eye on Dad... Actually, Elena took
Dad into the Hollywood Wax Museum. |
We spent an afternoon at Lake Arrowhead. We three wise men
ponder the imponderable. |
The area around there is beautiful and full of greenery. |
Next was a stop in Solvang for some ableskivers. George
sampled them willingly. |
Dad directed Elena in the taking of this shot. It's easy to
see he has the eye of a photographer...very picturesque. |
On the way back home we stopped at El Capitan beach where
Dad took a dip in the ocean. Cowabunga! Here we waggle the "hang
loose" sign. |
We also stopped in Santa Barbara, walked the pier, and as
shown here, took a brief rest at the mission. |
Elena shot this picture of a pelican while we walked on the
pier. Big bird, huh?! |
Here's three other pelicans....er, no, I guess that's us
guys, lounging on the pier while we make Elena take all the pictures. |
Elena and Dad with the marina and bay in the background. |
Looking out across the bay, Dad points dramatically with his
finger. Looks good, huh?! |
We walked a bit on the beach. This was the stairs to get up
and down the cliff. |
Elena and I took Dad to Scandia to play miniature golf... |
...later, some tough guy was annoying Elena. I gave him a
sound thrashing... |
...but the guy just didn't learn his lesson. George had to
give him another demonstration of superior male virility. |
